What you need to know

There is a lot of hard work in creating, planning, and putting on your prom. But we will have a lot of fun along the way. Here are the items you need to start thinking about and working towards as we move along:
  • Theme - how do you want the prom to be remembered?
  • Colors - this goes together with the theme. What colors do you want?
  • Song - it is a good idea to have a prom song to go along with the theme.
  • Decorations - this becomes a matter when we get closer to the prom, but can be discussed at any time during the planning.
  • Fundraising - this is the nasty "F" word. The more money we have in the bank (account), the more we can do. This will also allow us to control ticket prices. More on fundraising in another page. Also, see Events below.
  • Location - Please see the locations page. Let's keep costs reasonable. The closer we are to Pittsburgh, the more expensive it gets. Keep this in mind during planning, as I want ALL costs LOW!!
  • Entertainment - DJ, Hypnotist, Caricaturist, Handwriting Analyst, Monte Carlo night, etc. Those are among the possibilities besides the DJ. Remember, we can do anything you'd like AS LONG AS WE HAVE THE MONEY (See fundraising).
  • Ticket Sales - How much do we charge for couples/singles? Sales are in April. Early Bird special at Fashion Show, Regular Prices in April, prices go up in May. Tickets last year were $75.00/couple, $40.00 single.
  • Events - Fashion Show in the spring, Steelers basketball game in the spring (we co-sponsor with Student Council), other ideas?
  • Grand March - Decorating the auditorium, lighting, sound, program greeters, picture backdrop.
  • Chaperones - We need at least 10 and they can be teacher/spouse, parents, as long as we have at least 10. This does not include Mr. Purdy, an administrator (Mr. Frioni, Mr. Motte) or me. All chaperones, DJ, and Mr. Orton (school photographer) are entitled to a meal courtesy of the committee.
